Mr. Davies was enjoying the quiet. The classroom was empty, the final bell of the day having released the students into the bustling world outside. He leaned back in his chair, the leather smooth and worn beneath his hands.

A small box sat on his desk. He hadn’t noticed it until now. Curiosity piqued, he reached for it. It was from Sarah, a girl who'd always struggled with history. The box contained a vintage fountain pen, a beautiful thing, with a silver nib.

A small card was tucked beneath the lid. "For the teacher who showed me the stories mattered." A soft smile graced his lips. He picked up the pen, feeling the weight and balance in his hand, and began to write a list of his favourite novels.
