The quiet of the morning was broken only by the chirping of birds as Maria sipped her coffee on the back patio. The warmth of the sun on her skin, the fragrant scent of her jasmine plant, and the simple act of reflection made her smile. She felt a sense of belonging in the moment.

A hesitant knock sounded at her door. It was Mr. Garcia, his usually stern face softened. "Maria," he began, his voice quiet.

She rose from her chair and walked toward the door. "Yes, Mr. Garcia?"

"My grandson… he loves to help me grow food. Would… would it be permissible if we… if we used a small section of your yard for a garden? Just for him." She thought of the child's bright, eager eyes, and felt an ease within. "Yes," she said, her tone as warm as the morning sun. "That would be lovely."
