The scent of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen as Samuel finished kneading the dough. The warmth of the oven, the satisfying weight of the bread, and the anticipation of the meal to come were a source of deep satisfaction. He felt grounded in the moment, at peace.

A hesitant voice called from the backyard. It was Ms. Bell, her face radiating a gentle eagerness. "Samuel?" she called.

He wiped his hands and stepped outside. "Yes, Ms. Bell?"

"I was wondering… if it's not too much to ask… if I could perhaps use a small patch of your lawn for a garden? I'd love to grow some herbs, it has been a dream of mine." He paused and smiled. "Yes," he said, his voice gentle and welcoming. "Take all the space you want."
