Gemotions

He stared at his reflection in the mirror, barely recognizing the gaunt, tired face staring back. Elias ran a hand through his hair, the gesture lacking its usual grace. His muscles, usually primed and ready, felt heavy, leaden. The weight of the world, it seemed, was pressing down on his shoulders.

The news had hit him like a punch to the gut. No place on the team. He felt a strange tingling sensation, starting in his fingertips and spreading to his toes. He felt an intense need to do something, anything, to distract himself from the crushing disappointment.

He grabbed his keys and slammed the door behind him. The cool night air offered a small measure of relief, but the emptiness inside remained. He walked, fast, not sure where he was going.
