She ran her hand over her face, trying to wipe away the exhaustion. The account, discovered by accident, showed her son, Michael, living a life she knew nothing about. Secret meetups, late nights, a whole array of people she'd never met.

The edges of her vision began to blur. She focused on the wall, trying to ground herself. The room felt too small, the walls closing in. She took a deep breath, and then another.

She wanted to erase the account, pretend she had never seen it, but she knew that wasn't possible. She felt as though she'd crossed a boundary and there was no going back.
