He hadn't been home for dinner, again. Rachel, his wife, found the voice mail on his phone. A woman’s voice. She did not recognize it. She felt a strange physical sensation, like her own body was collapsing in on itself, her vision blurring. She hadn't realized how reliant she had become on his presence.

She sat heavily at the kitchen table, the silence deafening. She listened to the message again, and again, the timbre of a stranger's voice echoing in her ears.

The world seemed to spin. Everything, the house, her life, became a series of questions she had no idea how to answer.
