My jaw dropped, I swear I could feel it hit the floor. Mrs. Gable? *Her*? The woman who’d terrorized me with pop quizzes and merciless red pen marks? My son, Leo, was assigned to her for fifth grade. I actually stumbled backward, nearly tripping over the welcome mat. How was this possible? I’d run the numbers in my head a dozen times – there *should* have been at least five other teachers in rotation by now.
