He felt a wave of nausea, a sudden, inexplicable sickness. The sight of his journal in the hands of his roommate, Alex, was a physical blow. The colors of the room seemed to shift and warp, the walls closing in.

He took a step back, his body trembling. He wanted to scream, to shout, to demand an explanation, but his voice was trapped, a prisoner in his own throat. He felt vulnerable, exposed, stripped bare.

Alex looked up, a look of detached indifference on his face. "Just checking something out," he mumbled, his gaze quickly averting. The casual dismissal only made it worse.
