Gemotions

It was as if someone had just pulled the rug out from under him. The antique rocking chair, which had sung lullabies to him as a child, was for sale. His grandfather, usually so stoic, sat before him, the words tumbling out like a sudden waterfall.

He found himself clenching and unclenching his fists. His vision seemed to tunnel, focusing solely on his grandfather’s face, which seemed to warp and shift. The room, which he knew so well, now felt alien, unfamiliar.

He felt a deep hollowness, a void that seemed to be expanding with an alarming speed.
