The elevator ascended slowly, the silence broken only by the tinny elevator music. Then, his song started. From the speakers overhead, a version of his song that was better than the original version he had written. It was a stripped-down acoustic rendition, perfectly crafted.

He leaned against the wall, a strange tingling sensation spreading through his limbs. His mind raced, desperate to understand how this was possible.

He stepped out of the elevator, leaving the song behind, feeling adrift. He walked down the corridor, feeling detached from everything around him.
