The dusty attic air hung thick with the scent of forgotten things. Liam had invited Chloe to sift through boxes of old belongings, hoping to rekindle childhood memories. But as Liam pulled out item after item, Chloe felt a growing sense of detachment.

He described each object with such enthusiasm, but his recollections were wildly inaccurate. He pointed to a worn teddy bear and claimed it was Chloe’s favorite, but she remembered despising it. He pulled out a photo album filled with pictures, but the captions he provided were completely fabricated. Chloe’s brow furrowed.

"Liam," she began, her voice hesitant, "are you sure this is… correct?" She gestured towards the album with a trembling hand.

Liam chuckled, dismissing her concern. "Of course! What else could it be?" He didn't seem to notice the way she kept her arms tightly crossed, the way her gaze darted around the room, seeking escape.
