Gemotions

A wave of emptiness washed over him. Mark sat on the steps of the administration building, the rejection email still open on his phone. The sky was the same, the people were the same, but somehow everything was different. The color had been drained from the world.

He felt lethargic, his muscles leaden. The thought of walking back to his dorm, of doing anything at all, was a mountain to climb. The air felt thick, heavy with the knowledge of his failure. He rested his head against his knees.

The scholarship was everything. Now… he felt like he had nothing left to give. He just wanted to stop existing for a while.
