The office was quiet, save for the hum of the computers. David slumped at his desk, his chair creaking under his weight. He’d been working on a report all day, and the numbers swam before him. He scrolled through the comments section of the article about his diary. People were *reading* it.

He massaged his temples, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. The thought of reliving his teenage years, the awkwardness, the insecurities… it was exhausting. He couldn’t quite seem to focus on the words in the comments. He blinked slowly, fighting the urge to lean on his desk and close his eyes. It was way past his usual bedtime. He felt a profound desire to do nothing at all.

"Just… make it stop," he murmured, his voice sounding distant.
