Gemotions

A heavy lethargy enveloped Chloe. She had spent the entire morning teaching a class of unruly teenagers, and every muscle in her body ached. All she wanted was to curl up under a blanket. She walked into the living room, and found Ben engrossed in his laptop.

She paused, and watched him. He looked happy, tapping away at the keyboard with a smile on his face. She walked closer. She saw the manuscript title, and the words froze her in place. The cover art featured a woman who, in the artist’s rendering, looked remarkably like her.

The story, however, was filled with things she had not known, secrets, whispered conversations, and clandestine meetings. She felt something twist inside of her, a knot of confusion. She wanted to know more and not at the same time.
