Gemotions

The afternoon light filtered weakly through the blinds, casting stripes across the living room. David let out a long sigh, and the sound seemed to linger in the air. He felt as though a great weight had settled upon him. He slowly made his way to the kitchen, where he found Sarah working on her computer.

Her laptop screen was illuminated, and he noticed that a website had been opened. He walked over, the effort felt like a tremendous undertaking. He saw the cover of a novel, and his heart skipped a beat. The picture was of him.

He read a few lines, and his world tilted. Everything felt distorted, unreal. His own story, filtered through someone else's lens, was a jarring experience.
