Gemotions

The day seemed to stretch before Leo like an endless, gray expanse. He barely had the strength to hold his morning coffee. Across from him, Sarah was recounting an event with a dazzling intensity.

“That concert! The best night of my life, seriously. Remember the mosh pit? You were right in the middle of it, Leo, throwing your hands up, singing every word!” Sarah exclaimed, her eyes gleaming.

Leo shifted uncomfortably in his chair. He had a vague recollection of the concert. He'd been pressed against the back wall, feeling smothered by the crowd, the volume of the music making his head pound. The only word he’d remember from the lyrics was "Help."

"I... I remember it being very loud," he managed, his voice strained.

Sarah looked at him, puzzled. "Loud? You were practically a rockstar! You were moshing like a pro!"

He felt the weight of her enthusiasm, and the inadequacy of his memory, settle upon him.
