Gemotions

I sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic motion failing to soothe. It felt like glue had been poured into my joints. A frantic yelp, followed by a crash, shattered the quiet. Toby, the terrier mix, had successfully launched his daily escape. I closed my eyes, the scene unfolding in my mind.

Opening them was a chore. I felt leaden, almost disconnected from my surroundings. Every task seemed daunting. Even the simple act of standing up felt like an impossible summit. But I had to. And so, with a groan, I began the slow journey to the back gate.
