The courtroom felt suffocating, filled with the murmur of distant voices. Ava, dressed in an impeccably tailored suit, sat straight-backed and composed. Her brother, Miles, slumped in his chair, his gaze fixed on the floor. Their grandfather's death had been a shock.

The solicitor, a woman with a sharp, professional air, began the reading. "To Ava, my controlling interest in the family publishing company." Ava's jaw tightened in a gesture of control.

“And to Miles… a lifetime membership to a prestigious, and incredibly expensive, art school in Florence, Italy.” Miles didn't react, his face void of any emotion. He was still weighed down with what he was going through. He was finding it hard to get up the motivation to do anything.
