The email was still open on Liam's computer screen, the words of the building management's announcement blurred and indistinct. He rubbed his eyes, the simple act feeling like an enormous exertion. The news had landed heavily upon him, each syllable a fresh weight.

His limbs felt like lead, his thoughts tangled. He should be scouring real estate websites, calculating moving costs, but the task seemed monumental. It would take a great deal of effort to find a new place. He sighed, a sound of profound resignation.

He finally managed to push himself away from the computer, the movement slow and deliberate. He walked towards the kitchen, but couldn’t bring himself to eat. He simply stared, unable to muster any enthusiasm.
