The dusty, dented time capsule lay open before her, its secrets spilled out onto the living room floor. Eleanor stretched out a perfectly manicured hand, picking up a faded photograph of herself from decades ago. She looked… well, ordinary. A flash of amusement danced in her eyes.

She surveyed the contents: a handwritten diary (filled, no doubt, with adolescent angst), a collection of love letters (all unsigned, she noticed with a certain sense of disdain), and a cheap, plastic bracelet. She let out a small, self-satisfied sigh. How wonderfully different her life had turned out.

"Oh, sweetie," she cooed, addressing the photograph. "You had no idea, did you?" She leaned back in her chair, a pleased smile gracing her features. The future, as always, had been exquisitely kind to her.
