The old house creaked around her as Eleanor knelt, brush in hand, carefully removing the dirt from the time capsule. It felt like an unwelcome intrusion, this box, a reminder of a life she'd rather forget. She had no idea she had buried it.

Inside, a worn copy of her favorite book, a collection of letters, and a dried rose. The book, once a source of comfort, now felt like a burden. The letters, filled with promises and declarations of love, seemed ridiculous. The rose... well, the rose was beyond anything she could stomach.

She crushed the dried petals between her fingers, feeling a strange pleasure in the act. She ripped the letters into tiny pieces. The book she simply tossed aside and walked away, not glancing back.
