She'd been waiting at the bus stop, cold and weary. Then, the familiar intro, the opening chords to her forgotten power anthem, blasted from a passing car. She straightened, her spine stiffening. Her breath caught in her throat.

Suddenly, the world seemed to sharpen. The grey sky, the grimy street, all seemed to come into focus. Heat blossomed in her cheeks. Her fingers clenched into fists. A wild energy surged through her.

She found herself unconsciously tapping her foot. She wanted to run, to scream, to leap into the air. The music, the lyrics, the pure emotion of it all, was like an injection of pure adrenaline. She felt herself awaken.
