The emergency light cast a harsh, unflattering glow. Sarah felt her pulse pound in her ears. She hadn't expected it. She knew this was dangerous.

Across from her, John was leaning against the wall, but he was barely standing. The space felt tiny. He started to laugh, a slightly manic sound that filled the box.
