He bit down hard on the inside of his cheek, a futile attempt to control the rising tide of frustration. The vibrations were intense, making his teeth rattle in his head. The hammering, sawing, and grinding were a relentless assault on his senses. It felt like they were inside his skull.

He wanted to scream. He was on a deadline. The constant racket was impossible to ignore. He took a deep breath, but it didn't help.

He clenched his fist, letting the tension build until he thought he might shatter. He slammed his hand on the desk, then sighed, and slumped in his chair.
