The sterile white of the hospital room offered no comfort. A sterile bouquet of flowers sat in a vase on the table, a gift from the nurse. Across the room, a letter lay on the small bedside table, its edges slightly frayed.

The words from her sister, whom she hadn't spoken to since a family argument, were painfully obvious. The letter contained the apology she never thought she would receive. He couldn't even bring himself to pick it up. He was tired of it all. He closed his eyes.
