"Another day, another mountain of bills," Michael grumbled as he sorted through the mail. He tossed the advertisements aside with a sigh, barely glancing at the envelopes. Then, his fingers brushed against something… different. A card.

His pace faltered. He held it up to the light, turning it over. No return address. The front, decorated with a generic picture of balloons, screamed 'generic'. He hesitated, then opened it.

The message was brief: "Have a great day." He stood there, frozen. His heart felt as though it had shifted in his chest. He was usually so meticulous, so in control. This was out of sync.

He looked around the empty apartment. The quiet amplified the strangeness. He felt a need to… to *do* something. He paced from the living room to the kitchen, then back again. This card… it was unsettling.
