The postman had left it leaning against the door – a small, square package addressed to “Mrs. Evelyn Reed.” She'd lived here before, a sweet old lady who had been forced to move into a care home. She’d loved her garden.

She knew she should forward it on. It was probably a delivery. She lifted the package. There was a lightness to it. A sense of anticipation filled her.

She carefully opened the package. Inside were seed packets: lavender, rosemary, and chamomile. The smell of the herbs filled the air. She set it on the windowsill, the sunlight catching the colorful packets. She imagined Mrs. Reed’s garden, the vibrant blooms and fragrant scents.
