Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the wedding seemed to fade, replaced by a monochrome film of anxiety. My pulse hammered in my temples. He was just a few feet away, laughing with a group of people. I wanted to sink into the ground.

I gripped my wine glass so tightly that I thought it might shatter. My eyes scanned the room, searching for an escape route, a distraction, anything. I saw everything and nothing all at once. My feet felt rooted to the floor.

A bead of sweat trickled down my temple. I swallowed hard, trying to appear nonchalant. The polite smile I forced felt alien and unnatural on my face.
