He had been moody recently, closed off. The hushed whispers on the phone, the furtive glances, the late nights. They were all cause for concern. She found the phone hidden in his jacket pocket, a collection of calls from someone with a name she didn't recognize. Her first thought was of the worst. But as she stood there, the phone heavy in her hand, she recalled the good times: the shared jokes, the lazy Sunday mornings. Then he walked in. "Smells good in here," he said. He gave her a hug. She hugged him back. The phone suddenly felt insignificant.
