Gemotions

The grade was a blow. Maria’s cheeks burned with humiliation. It felt as if everyone could see the giant F plastered across her forehead. She felt like she wanted to hide. Then, she recalled her mother's words, “Always get back up.” Her mom had helped her through so many hard times.

She walked to the kitchen and made herself a cup of tea. As she sipped it, the warmth eased the tension in her shoulders. She had a warm home, a caring family, and friends who always picked her up. She would face this hurdle, too.
