Gemotions

She threw her gardening gloves onto the table, barely missing the overflowing bowl of fruit. Her chest felt light, like a balloon ready to float away. It was happening! The fence was finally going up. The chaotic symphony of barking dogs and noisy children was about to be partially muffled.

"Did you hear?" she almost shouted at her partner, her eyes sparkling. "The contractor is coming next week!" He simply smiled, but she could see the subtle shift in his shoulders – he understood.

She spent the evening sketching designs in her notebook, envisioning creeping vines and elegant lattice. The mere prospect of finally having a defined boundary, a pocket of serenity, made her feel as though she could dance forever.
