Gemotions

The heavy wooden gate creaked open, and a burst of sunlight flooded the yard. I walked toward the edge of the property, the corners of my mouth stretching into a wide smile. My neighbor, Mr. Davis, was putting up his fence.

He waved at me, and I waved back, feeling a warmth spread across my face. It was going to be great, having a proper barrier between the houses. I was already imagining a new pet, and what kind of a dog would love to play in my yard.

I could feel a spring in my step, a lightness in my limbs. I practically danced back inside, ready to plan my garden. This was finally going to be a good year.
