He paced his tiny apartment, a grin plastered across his face. He'd done it! He’d finally closed the deal. The biggest one of his career. He was going to be rich! He had to share the news! He rapidly typed, "We did it! We're rich! Time to celebrate!" He sent it, then stopped. His eyes widened. He'd sent it to his mother.

He collapsed onto his sofa, groaning. He knew what was coming. The lecture on humility, the advice about saving, the reminders to stay grounded. He sighed, imagining her disappointment that he was celebrating. Now he had to apologize for being so excited. He ran a hand through his hair, already feeling deflated. The elation, which had been so potent only moments ago, began to fade.
