She tapped her foot impatiently, a huge grin plastered across her face. This was it! The moment she'd been waiting for. She had the audition of a lifetime! She needed to share the good news with her best friend. “I got it! I’m going to sing on stage!” she typed frantically, hitting send with a flourish. Then, she saw the name. "Mom."

Her smile faltered slightly. Her mother would be delighted, of course, but she also knew what would follow: a barrage of questions, unsolicited advice, and an endless stream of reminders about her schoolwork. She imagined the phone call, filled with well-meaning worry and concerns. She groaned inwardly. She'd been looking forward to celebrating, but now she felt a slight chill.
