Gemotions

Her hands trembled as she clutched the letter. It was from her father, the man who had abandoned her and her mother when she was a child. The elegant script, the formal language… it was all so out of character.

She paced the length of her living room, rereading the words again and again. She stopped, staring out the window, a watery film obscuring her vision. Years of resentment, of bitterness, began to crumble, replaced by a strange sense of… wholeness.

She called her mother and told her the news. Then, she opened a bottle of wine and poured herself a large glass. She wanted to savor the moment.
