"Flowers, Ma'am!" the delivery man had announced, his voice booming. Amelia nearly jumped out of her skin. A vibrant mix of tulips and irises, no card attached. She couldn't stop the smile that stretched across her face, mirroring the blossoms' cheerful hues.

She skipped inside, the bouquet held before her like a precious offering. Her apartment felt suddenly brighter, more welcoming. She went to the kitchen and grabbed a vase, humming a little tune that she hadn't sung in years.

It was almost overwhelming, this sudden surge of excitement. She had to find the perfect spot for them, a place where she could see them constantly, a reminder of… what exactly? She didn't know, and that was part of the magic.
