The apartment felt oppressively small. The calls, the secrecy, the lies – it had all become too much. Sarah watched David, his back turned as he spoke into his phone, the air crackling with an unspoken tension.

She felt a profound sense of loss, as if she were mourning someone who was still alive. Her hands were ice cold, even though she was drenched in sweat. She found herself unable to speak, her voice trapped somewhere deep inside.

The world seemed to have lost its color. The joy she once knew had been replaced by a deep, hollow ache. She no longer recognized the man beside her, or the life they had built together.
