The ornate writing on the letter felt alien in Clara’s hands. "…a series of cryptic clues… leading to… a significant legacy." Her brother, James, had received the family estate, a sprawling mansion and the burden of all the maintenance it came with. She felt a flicker of envy, but mostly confusion. She'd wanted something simple.

She spent hours poring over the clues, each one a riddle wrapped in an enigma. She paced her small apartment, a knot forming in her stomach. The weight of expectation pressed down on her.

Following the clues, she finally arrived at an old clock, and when she opened it, she found a series of detailed notes and letters revealing her grandmother’s life, a life which had been marked with great scandal.
