The aroma of cinnamon and cardamom hit Clara like a physical blow. It was the scent of her grandmother's famous "Sunrise Swirls," a recipe she’d poured over for years, perfecting every delicate fold. She stared at the bakery's window display, at the sign proclaiming "Crescent Clouds," a treat identical to her grandmother's. A knot formed in her stomach, twisting with a discomfort she couldn't explain.

She took a shaky breath and pushed open the bakery door. The bell above chimed, announcing her arrival. A young woman with a bright smile stood behind the counter, eager to assist. "Can I help you, sweetie?" Clara averted her gaze, her throat suddenly dry. "I... I just wanted to look," she stammered, her voice thin. She pointed at the pastries, the identical rolls, the same swirls. "They... they look delicious," she managed, avoiding eye contact.
