Gemotions

Her palms were sweating as she clutched the keys. She knew she should have asked her brother to come. Now she was here alone. She felt a physical weight on her shoulders.

The air felt thick and heavy. The house seemed to crouch, waiting. She had to take a few deep breaths before approaching the door. She felt her muscles tense, as if readying for a fight.

She glanced at the windows. She imagined the ghosts of the past staring back. She closed her eyes for a moment, and opened them again, forcing herself to focus. She placed the key in the lock, and the metal grated.
