Her jaw tightened as she scanned the comments section. “What a drama queen!” and “Get over it, already!” the trolls spewed. Each unkind word felt like a physical blow. A knot formed in her throat, making it difficult to breathe. This was her fault.

She hadn't been expecting anyone to ever read her diary. The idea of other people knowing her innermost thoughts was nauseating. Her stomach twisted into a painful knot.

She switched her phone off, then hurled it across the room. It shattered against the wall, a satisfying, if temporary, release. She sank to the floor, wrapping her arms around herself, shivering despite the warmth of the room.
