The words blurred before Clara's eyes as she scanned the notice again. Eviction. The single word resonated with a chilling finality. She felt a hollowness in her chest, a void that seemed to swallow all light.

She paced the small studio apartment, the worn floorboards groaning under her steps. The floral wallpaper, once cheerful, now seemed to mock her with its fading prettiness. Her stomach twisted into knots.
