Gemotions

Her eyes darted back and forth, as if expecting the car to reappear. The air around her felt charged, as if a storm was brewing. The quiet hum of the neighborhood was replaced by a dull, throbbing sensation in her head. Her hands flew to her mouth, stifling a gasp.

She knew she hadn’t parked illegally. She knew it. Yet, the notice taped to her door provided evidence to the contrary. She didn't like this. She felt a growing tightness in her chest, a feeling of being trapped.

She stared at the empty space, then at the house. She wanted to run, to escape this growing, indefinable unease. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was very, very wrong.
