He had poured every waking moment, every ounce of his dwindling savings, into this.

He stalked around the lab, a caged lion, his hands clenched so tight his knuckles were white. Years, he thought, years wasted! But no. He wouldn't yield.

He would rebuild it, improve it, make it better. He would dedicate himself to the task, ignoring the doubts that threatened to pull him under. He would prove the original concept was inferior, a child's toy. He would show them all.
