She spent weeks poring over tax records, campaign contributions, and city council meeting minutes. Sleep became a luxury. Coffee fueled her, and the fire in her gut burned hotter with each new piece of information she uncovered.

She didn't write to the papers, not at first. Instead, she printed out hundreds of flyers, each one detailing a specific instance of corruption, a specific lie. She plastered them all over town, on every lamppost, every bus stop, every billboard. The city slowly began to notice the dark cloud descending over them.
