Gemotions

The first thing David did was open all the windows. He’d never been a fan of stuffy air. He felt buoyant. He needed space to breathe. He felt ready for anything. The familiar creaks and groans of the house, were like music to his ears.

He spent the morning in the garden, a riot of overgrown weeds and tangled vines. He grabbed a shovel and started clearing, the physical exertion satisfying and cleansing. Dirt coated his hands, sweat beaded on his forehead, but he kept working, whistling a cheerful tune.

That evening, he helped his father fix the leaky faucet in the kitchen, their laughter echoing through the house. He felt a deep sense of connection, a warmth that settled in his chest. As he lay in bed, the silence of the house was a comfort.
