Liam whistled, organizing the spice rack. The new apartment felt like a breath of fresh air; everything sparkled. He and Sarah had finally found their dream home, and the possibilities felt endless. Sunlight poured into the kitchen, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. He felt a surge of energy, a physical push to get things done, and he loved it. He loved everything.

He noticed Sarah’s phone on the charger and, on a whim, reached for it to queue up some music for their dinner party tonight. He scrolled through her recent calls, just to get a feel for what she’d been up to during the day, and then his breath caught. A number, repeated countless times, and all after she'd said she was going out for lunch with her friend. His hands grew clammy, and a chill crawled up his spine. The music felt suddenly and inexplicably wrong.
