Eliza couldn't stop grinning. Her heart felt light, as if it was about to take flight. The sky outside reflected her mood: bright, clear, and full of promise. She skipped down the street, her arms swinging, her feet barely touching the pavement. Every passerby received a beaming smile.

She knew her friend, Ben, was also having a party that day. She thought about it for a fraction of a second, then dismissed the notion. Today was about pure, unadulterated joy.
