The anticipation had her practically buzzing, humming a low tune as she carefully prepared the picnic basket. She’d spent the morning picking wildflowers, their colors bursting with life, to take to the park. Today was the day she would reunite with Sam, her closest companion during those formative years. Every detail had to be perfect.

She arrived at the park, the sun high in the sky. She saw him sitting by their favorite tree. "Sam!" she called out, a smile lighting her face.

He turned, confusion etched on his face. “I’m sorry, but I don’t know you,” he said quietly, his voice devoid of warmth. Her smile faltered, the sunlight suddenly feeling less bright.
