The thrill of discovery propelled her through each day. She found herself talking faster, laughing more easily, sketching out ideas on napkins, her mind racing with possibilities. She rushed to Professor Ito's office, her heart pounding in anticipation of sharing her latest findings.

She burst in, ready to report, but the words died in her throat. Professor Ito was staring at a computer screen, a look of profound sadness etched on his face. “Sofia, I… I have accepted a position abroad. I'm moving to Tokyo."
